🚀 Why It Made Me Rewatch Them All
There’s something about Star Trek that keeps drawing me back, no matter how many times I watch.
Each series has its own vibe, but the common thread is how the universe feels alive and interconnected. Whether it’s Captain Picard in The Next Generation, Sisko in Deep Space Nine, or Boimler in Lower Decks, I find myself discovering new layers in each character every time.
Sometimes I’m in a mood for a strong female role on Voyager, other times I want the nostalgia and heart of Picard.
And then, there’s the weird, sexy, and somehow totally seductive Enterprise from the 2000s (Enterprise, that is). It had its own vibe…bold and different.
Even though it wasn’t always seen that way and had pretty split views among fans, it definitely left its mark.
The new series are full of action and energy. I’ve been loving the ride so far, and I can’t wait to see where Star Trek goes from here.
The characters, their journeys, and the big questions Star Trek asks continue to resonate with me. I think that’s why it has such lasting power.

(aka How to Board the Starship Without Feeling Overwhelmed)
First of all: welcome. You’ve just unlocked the door to one of the most expansive, inspiring, and occasionally confusing fictional universes ever created. But don’t panic…I’m here, and I’ve totally got you.
Here are some light-hearted, honest tips for diving into Star Trek:
You don’t have to start with the original series.
Seriously. It’s iconic, but also very 1960s. If it feels too slow or too campy, that’s okay. Start with Strange New Worlds or Next Gen—there’s no shame in working backward.
It’s okay to be confused.
Time travel. Alternate timelines. Mirror universes. Star Trek loves its sci-fi chaos. Just lean in, and trust that somehow, it all connects (eventually).
Release order vs timeline order? Up to you.
Some people swear by watching in release order. Others like jumping around. Personally, I started with whatever felt right at the time—and that worked just fine. This isn’t homework, it’s space TV.
This is how I started…
As a teenager, I used to stay up until 1 or 2 in the morning on school nights—because that’s when the episodes aired. I watched it on a boxed TV on basic cable. Totally worth the sleep deprivation. No regrets.
You don’t have to know all the ships, planets, or alien species.
You’ll pick things up as you go. Or not either way, the shows are all very entertaining and at the very least a good background show to keep on. I do this with so many shows I’ve watched and re-watched over and over.
Don’t feel bad if you don’t love every series.
Each series has its own flavor. Some are more hopeful, some are heavier, some are animated and slightly unhinged (looking at you, Lower Decks). Find the one that clicks for you, but Strange New Worlds is filmed with the energy and style of today’s TV, so it really pulls you in.
Bonus tip: Trekkies are pretty cool.
Despite the sci-fi debates and timeline charts, this fandom is one of the kindest out there. Ask a question, share a theory, wear the shirt—there’s room for everyone on this ship.

🌌 Why Star Trek Will Always Matter
Growing up as a Korean American girl who often felt like an outsider
I struggled to find people who saw me. But the characters on Star Trek—Picard, Geordi, Data, Worf, and so many others, offered me a sense of belonging. I took on little pieces of them as I found my own identity, learning that there was nothing wrong with me, just a unique story to tell.
The show creates characters that feel like family. And for some of us, that mattered more than we realized. I grew up wishing my own family felt more like the ones I saw on Star Trek, the bonds built between crewmates, the loyalty, the trust, the way they showed up for each other no matter what.
They’re friends, but they become family—and somehow, as a viewer, you feel like you’re part of it too. It takes you in. When they lose, you lose. When they cry, you cry. And when they grow, it makes you want to grow too.
It’s a kind of family I didn’t know I needed, but one I still lean on today.
I feel like these shows touch on almost every kind of trauma, and you actually see the characters work through it. That’s something so many of us hope for in real life too… to somehow face what we’ve been through and come out stronger. Watching them heal, struggle, and grow gives me hope that maybe we can do the same.
Sometimes I catch myself crying during a re-watch, and I stop and ask, why did that hit me so hard? What is it inside me that reacted so deeply? And in those quiet moments, I try to understand myself a little better. These shows have helped me do that.
They’ve helped me heal. And I hope, slowly, to keep growing into someone who lives by the kind of values Star Trek always stood for…kindness, curiosity, courage, and connection.
It’s not just a sci-fi show; it’s a hopeful, enduring reminder of what humanity can be. That’s why it matters so much to me—and why it will always have a place in my heart.
